- Germany is in central europe, bordered between the North Sea and the baltic sea between the Netherlands, Poland and the south of Denmark. Germanys total area is 356,910 km squared and the land area is 349,520 km squared. Compared to other countrys, germany is slightly smaller than Montana, a part of the USA. Germany has boundaries to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. Germany is in the temperate zone which means cool and cloudy weather, wet winters and warm summers. Germany terrain is described as lowlands in north, uplands in the center and the Bavarian Alps in the south. The land is mostly arable land (34 per cent)and forest and woodland (30 per cent) Some of Germanys natural resources are iron ore, coal, potash, timber, lignite, uranium, copper, natural gas, salt and nickel.
